Driver crashes into Jefferson Twp. auto shop

A motorist backed into an auto repair shop Saturday afternoon, smashing an SUV before fleeing without his car

Michael Beam, owner of Beams Auto Repair, 5378 W. Third St., in Jefferson Twp., said he was working on a car engine at his garage shortly before 4:30 p.m. when a customer pulled up asking for some air in his tires.

“When he pulled up, he started backing up, and then all of a sudden he just hit the throttle and went all the way up in there and smashed the (Dodge) Durango,” Beam said.

Beam said he hasn’t seen the driver since the crash, but that the man’s car is still there. He also said the driver doesn’t have insurance.

The Durango sustained significant damage, but there wasn’t much damage to the business and no one was hurt.
