The council serves nearly 5,000 youth overall, according to a release.

During the banquet there was celebration of membership growth and the addition of 300 girls who joined the program.

The Boy Scouts of America opened all programs to serve both boys and girls ages 8 to 17 a year ago and the council expects this to be the last time for an all-male Eagle Scout Class, they said.

“Many girls who joined over the last year are working hard and are aspiring to achieve the Rank of Eagle in 2020 and be one of the first female Eagle Scouts to walk across the stage at next year’s Recognition and Eagle Banquet,” the release said.

Tonight was the first time a girl Troop conducted the flag ceremony.
