Eatery offers daily Thanksgiving fare

OXFORD — A restaurant called TGD (Thanksgiving Dinner) is headed to Oxford to deliver a “beloved meal to the public at a great price, 365 days a year.”

Miami alumnus Nino Natale and a longtime friend Ryan Napier are co-founders of TGD. They opened their first restaurant right before Thanksgiving Day of 2010 in Canton.

TGD manager Marco Antonelli will be the head manager when the restaurant comes to Uptown, where Double Ds Diner was formerly located at 19 W. High St.

Antonelli said the idea behind TGD started when the two best friends, Natale and Napier, were in Las Vegas late one night. The two were discussing how hungry they were and how they wished there was a place they could get a quick and cheap Thanksgiving meal. And from that moment on, they worked to create TGD.

The menu offers turkey, ham and roast beef that are slow-roasted every day. They also serve all of the traditional Thanksgiving sides, such as mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans and more.

In addition, TGD offers other options including cold and hot sandwiches, homemade soups, pumpkin pie and pecan pie. Antonelli said they also make hot open-faced sandwiches that have bread on the bottom, a choice of meat and gravy to top it off, a concoction sometimes known as a “hot shot.”

Antonelli describes TGD as being similar to Chipotle, where customers give the workers their preferences as they walk along a serving counter.

“So far, I’d say 99 percent of our customers absolutely love it, think the food is great and want to come back,” he said. “The whole fresh concept is really what we are trying to get at and offering that 365 days a year,” he said.

Antonelli said this is TGD’s first experience offering their food to a college town, but he is excited to move to Oxford. He said depending on construction, TGD should be opening sometime in July or August. For more information, visit tgd365.com.
