“We’ve been concerned about our businesses in the city through all of this,” Gebhart said. “We know it has been especially tough on them.”
The city’s streets department arranged cones and concrete blocks to block off some parallel parking spots on Main Street.
Restaurants on Main Street, like Lefty’s, Giovanni’s, Tickets Pub and Chantilly Cream will likely take advantage of this new, socially distant outdoor seating space, Gebhart said.
“I think we’ll be seeing seating outside downtown restaurants or restaurants using those spaces for quick carry out,” Gebhart said.
Fairborn is also working on developing some guidelines for all other restaurants that may want to add outdoor seating.
“We just want to make sure that we are keeping patrons safe if these restaurants are to expand seating into a parking lot or something like that, and keeping the people serving them safe,” Gebhart said. “We are still working on other things that would help our small businesses.”
