26th Liberty Twp. Fourth of July 5K Run and Parade

When: July 4

What: Liberty 5K run begins at 8 a.m. at Lakota East High School. Go to sprunning.com to register. Cost is $20 by June 29, $25 after June 29. Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Lakota East High School and ends at Liberty Park

Light Up the Sky Parade and Festival

When: July 4

What: Festivities begin at noon, parade at 3 p.m., fireworks around 10 p.m. at 412 Old Street, Monroe

Fourth of July parades and events will be numerous across Butler County throughout the long holiday weekend.

Fairfield

The annual Red, White and Kaboom Independence Day fireworks celebration will be July 3 at three different locations — Village Green Park, Fairfield Aquatic Center and Harbin Park.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Village Green Park, with bands and events taking place until fireworks begin at 10 p.m.

Liberty Twp.

A Fourth of July 5K run will begin at 8 a.m., with registration at 7 a.m. at Lakota East High School. The run begins and ends there. Visit Sprunning.com to register. The cost is $20 through July 29, $25 after that date.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Lakota East High School. The Lakota East Baseball Team will serve as grand marshal.

Monroe

The city will celebrate the Fourth with a parade and the sixth annual Light Up the Sky Independence Day festival.

“We’ll have multiple different things going on,” said Mark Bursley, Fourth of July committee chairman.

The festivities will begin at noon. Bursley said several bands are lined up to perform, and food booths, carnival-type rides and free games for children 10 and younger will be available.

The 26th annual Fourth of July Parade will begin at 3 p.m.

“Everything culminates at the end of the evening with a fireworks show at 10 p.m.,” Bursley said.
