Father of Kettering soldier killed in Afghanistan speaks at wreath-laying ceremony

Jim Groves, whose son died while serving during Operating Enduring Freedom in 2013, will be a featured speaker during a wreath-laying ceremony in Columbus today.

U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer James Groves III, of Kettering, was killed in a helicopter crash in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2013.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine are hosing the 2019 Governor’s Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Ohio Statehouse Veterans Plaza. The event plays tribute to Ohio’s fallen heroes and recognizes the sacrifices made by their loved ones, according to a release.
