Driver flees from officers, crashes short time later

When police found the crashed vehicle, the driver had fled the scene, police said.

Before the crash, police said the driver also hit another vehicle in the area of Fairbanks and Brooklyn avenues causing minor injuries to the other driver, investigators said.

Investigators said they never pursued the driver when they initially failed to stop for officers.
