Kettering apartment fire causes $5K worth of damage

A fire at an apartment on Wiltshire Boulevard has caused $5,000 worth of damage according to the Kettering Fire Department.  The fire reportedly started in a utility room and was contained to that area. A female and an infant are displaced following the damage and the Red Cross was on scene assisting the family.

FIRST REPORT: 

Firefighters have responded to reports of a fire in an apartment building on Wiltshire Boulevard in Kettering Monday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched to the building near the intersection of Wiltshire Boulevard and Acorn Drive around 2:05 p.m. and reported smoke coming from the structure.

Initial reports indicate all occupants were able to evacuate before fire crews arrived on scene. Firefighters also reported a quick knockdown of the blaze, according to scanner traffic from the scene.
