UPDATE @ 5:45 p.m.: Several streets, basements and backyard are flooded in the area near state Route 42, Jamestown Road, Short Street.
Ken Larson, who lives on Clifton Road, suffered massive flooding in his backyard and home. He said his home was hit by flooding a week ago.
Larson said he has lived in South Charleston since 2002 and the flooding in his backyard has never been as bad. He sent us a photo, which appears with this report, showing the damage.
Columbus Road resident Ed Torres said he has about two feet of water in his basement. Just like Larson, Torres said a similar downpour last week — where the village saw two inches of rain in about 30 minutes, Torres said — caused similar problems.
“The sewer line backs up (in there),” he said, noting many people have flocked to a nearby hardware store in search of pumps.
High water signs and barriers have been placed near where the road is closed at state Route 42 and Jamestown Road.
In Greene County, street flooding was reported on Florence Avenue.
There are no reports of any injuries.
Clark County continues under a flood advisory until 5:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
