Former Dayton police chief investigating Texas trafficking case

San Antonio police Chief William McManus, who served as Dayton’s chief from 2001 until 2003, is dealing with a case being called a “horrific” case of human trafficking.

McManus is investigating the deaths of nine people found inside a semi tractor-trailer parked outside a San Antonio Walmart. Nearly 20 others were rescued from the trailer, 17 of which are being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police said many of those hospitalized suffered from extreme dehydration and heatstroke.
