Festivities will get under way with a Mass celebrated by former inductee, the Rev. Robert Monnin, at 5:15 p.m. in the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Chapel. A social hour will be held in the Mark Wurm Gymnasium at 6 p.m. followed by a dinner at 6:30. The induction ceremony will be held at 7:30.
Brandewie entered the Mount Saint Joseph College in 1924, earning a bachelor’s in music and mathematics and later a master’s from the University of Detroit in 1962. She was presented the first community award for Outstanding Contribution to Education of the Community of Sidney.
Gilardi built Gilardi Foods into the most successful refrigerated pizza operation in the United States. Through his 28-year ownership of Gilardi Foods, he supported Holy Angels Parish and later Lehman Catholic. Following the sale to ConAgra Foods in 1998, Gilardi and his wife, Pam, established The Father’s Table Co. and the Father’s Table Foundation.
The late Gariety graduated from Saint Louis Medical School in 1954 and opened a private practice in 1958 in Greenville. In 1969 he formed a surgical practice called Miami County Surgeons in Piqua. The father of seven Lehman High School graduates, Gariety was instrumental in the merger of Piqua Catholic and Holy Angels high schools and the formation of Lehman High School.
Scherer entered the Sisters of Charity religious order and took her vows in August 1960. She graduated from the College of Mount Saint Joseph in 1962, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and mathematics. She earned a master’s from the University of Notre Dame in 1971. She served on the first staff at Lehman High School in 1970.
She is chairwoman of the science department, where she teaches chemistry, physics and Advanced Placement courses. She initiated girls athletics at Lehman, worked with substance abuse programs at Lehman and began its AP science program.
The induction ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are $35 per person.
