Around half of Ohio families live with elevated radon levels, the Ohio Department of Health estimates.
Testing is the only way to know if radon is present, and it's recommended that all homes, regardless of age, location or construction type be tested.
Radon test kits are only $8.45, and households with an income below $80,500 qualify for a free kit.
Homeowners can visit www.doctorhomeair.com/ohio to request a radon test kit or www.rapca.org/programs/radon to learn more about radon.
