Garbage pickup cost to increase in Fairborn

Fairborn’s rates for garbage pickup will change in April, increasing the residential pickup rate by 6 percent and changing the commercial pickup to a fixed rate.

The monthly rate for residential garbage pickup will increase from $18.60 to $19.80, a jump of $1.20 in order to cover the cost of a new contract with Waste Management. The most recent prior rate increase was in 2014. The price increase will take effect during April billing.

The cost of commercial trash removal will move from a variable rate to a fixed rate of $4.30 per cubic yard of waste and $2.50 per cubic yard of recycling. City officials estimate some commercial consumers will see a cost savings due to the change. The current pricing scheme was established in 1996.
