Gas leak shuts down Social Row Rd. near Centerville

UPDATE@2:30 p.m.: Social Row Road was reopened shortly after noon, according to the regional dispatch center.

UPDATE@10:20 a.m.: Officials said a company was installing a fiberoptic line and hit a three- to four-inch gas line.

A Vectren crew is on scene, but they've not been able to shut off the gas feed.

In addition to the All About Kids Daycare, about eight houses near the golf course were evacuated.

The road is expected to remain closed in the area into the afternoon.

UPDATE@10:15 a.m.: Social Row Road will be closed for four hours or more between Paragon Road and Yankee Trace Drive, according to the Washington Twp. Fire Department.

UPDATE@9:50 a.m.: Social Row Road remained shut down because of a gas leak in the area.

Traffic on Social Row was blocked between Yankee Trace and Waterbury Ridge Lane.

Centerville police and county deputies as well as Washington Twp. firefighters were on scene.

Vectren was called to the scene. There's no indication when the road will be reopened.

EARLIER

The All About Kids Daycare on West Social Row Road near Centerville was evacuated after construction crew caused a nearby natural gas leak.

Traffic was being diverted off of Social Row just east of Yankee Trace at 9 a.m.

An employee at the daycare center said they were advised to evacuate the area until further notice, but everyone was OK and safe.
