The Oakwood Board of Education named Amy Borgert Martin interim Alumni Association director, a position that runs through the end of 2015.

Martin, a 1998 graduate of Oakwood High School, is excited about the opportunity to expand the mission of the organization. Prior to being named interim director, Martin served several years on the Oakwood Alumni Advisory Board. “We developed the Distinguished Alumni Award and have a presence at That Day in May,” Martin said.

Much of the Alumni Association’s purpose is to communicate with class representatives, assist them with reunion planning and collect dues. “I’m hoping to clarify, expand and communicate the association’s purpose,” said Martin. “I can see us coordinating members with other alums in career networking or offering relocation assistance to alums moving to a new city.”

A business administration/marketing graduate of the University of Dayton, Martin said that she is impressed with how active the alumni organization is for U.D. “I look forward to getting in touch with class representatives and working with the alumni community to foster the spirit of the Oakwood Schools.”

Martin says she never envisioned herself heading up the Alumni Association when she was walking the halls of Oakwood High School. But, she and her husband, whom she met at U.D., have relocated to Oakwood with their two young children. “It’s fun to think my children will be going to the Oakwood schools.”

Martin said that she hopes to be considered for the position permanently.
