Three dog houses built by carpentry students at the Greene County Career Center will be sold at the 2015 Greene County Parks and Trails’ Doggie Dash ‘N Splash on Aug. 15.
K9 Karson will be a special guest at the canine festival which is in its 10th year.
All funds raised from the event benefit the Scout Dog Park, the first public dog park in Greene County.
The houses will be available for review at the dog splash festival at the Fairgrounds Recreation Center, 210 Fairgrounds Rd.

Free jobs seminar for veterans scheduled for April 10
The Miami Valley Human Resource Association (MVHRA.org) is sponsoring a free one-day workshop on Friday, April 10, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to assist local veterans in gaining employment. Partnering with MVHRA is Veterans & Employers Connection and the Beavercreek VFW (which is providing lunch).
The seminar will focus on assessing strengths and weaknesses of job skills, communicating effectively, writing resumes and cover letters, developing interviewing skills as well as identifying veteran support organizations and meeting with companies seeking to hire veterans.
Attendees are encouraged to bring several copies of their resumes to the seminar at Clark State Community College Beavercreek campus, 3775 Pentagon Blvd.

Storybook Gardens program for children
Greene County Parks & Trails is hosting a storybook gardens program from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Thursdays, April 16, 23, 30; and May 7, 14, 21 at Russ Nature Reserve, 2380 Kemp Rd., Beavercreek.
Young gardeners between the ages of three and six will read “Planting a Rainbow,” “Eating the Alphabet” and “Sunflower House” while learning to garden.
Cost for the program series is $30 or $8 for each individual session.
