“It’s a chance for us to tease the Outdoor Experience on a much smaller scale,” said Brent Anslinger, Five Rivers MetroParks outdoor recreation program manager. “We are trying to create a buzz for the main event.”
The annual Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience — commonly referred to as Outdoor X — is one of the premier outdoor adventure festivals in the Midwest. Outdoor X is slated for Oct. 5-6 at Eastwood MetroPark with two days of demonstrations, competitions, activities and fun for the entire family.
But for those who just can’t wait a few months for some free outdoor fun, they can test their balance and ability, and even enjoy some toe-tapping bluegrass music tonight. Pickin’ in the Park will add to the fun with progressive bluegrass music under the RiverScape pavilion and a small fleet of food trucks nearby.
“It’s definitely a family-friendly, kid-friendly event,” Anslinger said.
Want even more outdoor adventure? How about paddling after you’re finished pedaling?
This summer, Five Rivers MetroParks partnered with Whitewater Warehouse to offer paddlesport rental options at RiverScape on designated days, and today is one of them.
Paddle by the fountains and enjoy the refreshing mist or take an adrenaline-pumping ride through the whitewater feature. The adventure can be as mild or wild as you choose.
“Very few people walk away without a smile on their face,” said Bernie Farley, co-owner of Whitewater Warehouse.
