COMPLETE CORONAVIRUS COVERAGE

Describe what your day is like/what you do: I am a night shift charge nurse at Soin Medical Center. I perform direct patient care with the help of my amazing team of nursing assistants, respiratory therapist, fellow nurses and phlebotomist.

What inspired you to get into health care? As a kid I spent a lot of time in the hospital. The nurses who cared for me as a child at Dayton Children's made me want to become a nurse.

What's a memorable experience you've had in health care? Taking a crisis position in New York City during this COVID-19 pandemic. I spent a month straight working in the medical intensive care unit of Coney Island Hospital, where I took care of some of the sickest patients I have seen in my career.

Health Care Hero: ‘I became a nurse to make a difference’

What do you want readers to know about your job right now? Nursing is definitely a passion. Although it has its challenging times, the rewarding moments make it completely worth it. My experience in New York has made me appreciate the resources/supplies we have in this community for health care. At Soin we have one of the best teams.
