These alerts are mainly for the protection of crops and plants as the first frosts and freezes can damage or kill them. Once the first freeze occurs, the NWS will gradually remove counties from the program.
Ohio counties along the Ohio River remain in the program until the NWS removes them or the deadline of Nov. 7 is met.
