Hot, humid today with chance of storms, heavy rain in afternoon

Today we will start out sunny, but we will see a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, some of which could produce heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The chance of rain will largely fall away in the late evening as we go into the overnight hours.

It will also be a hot and humid day, with a high near 95 degrees but with a heat index pushing as high as 100 degrees. Once the sun goes down, temperatures will fall to around 73 degrees.

Thursday, the forecast once more predicts a hot and humid day, with highs reaching near 93 degrees and heat index values as high as 100 degrees. Again, we will see a mostly sunny start, with chances of rain and storms rising in the afternoon, before trailing off in the evening.

Overnight, temperatures will fall to around 73 degrees.

For Friday, we will see some more rain in the area, with rain chances rising throughout the morning, making thunderstorms and showers likely through much of the afternoon. Rain and storms chances will stay with us through Friday night and into Saturday morning.

During the day on Friday, we will still see mostly sunny skies and a high near 93 degrees. Temperatures will fall to around 71 degrees overnight.
