Huber Heights man convicted in child sex case involving at least 5 victims

A Huber Heights man was convicted of multiple sex crimes against several young girls — including at least one victim from his neighborhood.

John Franz pleaded by bill of information Friday afternoon to three counts of rape and seven counts of gross sexual imposition involving a victim younger than 13.

Franz is scheduled to be sentenced next month.

The plea, which has an agreed to sentence of eight to 15 years, was reached  ahead of his trial that was to begin Monday, according to officials.

According to the county prosecutor’s office, the five girl victims in the cases were not related to Franz.

He was arrested in September outside his Leycross Drive home after a grand jury indicted him for the sex crimes. He initially faced 14 counts of gross sexual imposition of a child, four counts of rape (involving a child), and one count of attempt to commit sexual imposition, according to court records.

Last October, one of the five girls said to have been his victims came forward, police said, and disclosed to them the names of several other possible victims.
