Most of the funding will be used to continue 14 permanent supportive housing programs that provide safe and affordable housing and include services to aid disabled homeless persons.
These 14 programs provide housing to more than 800 formerly homeless households combined, and include Daybreak, Dayton, Homefull, Miami Valley Housing Opportunities, PLACES, St. Vincent de Paul, the YWCA and Montgomery County. An additional 600 households will be served through transitional housing and services programs.
The local continuum of care scored in the top 10 percent of such programs nationally for their work, said Kathleen Shanahan, Montgomery County housing and homeless solutions coordinator.
