Hug the Earth festivities set

The Miami County Park District will hold its annual Hug the Earth School Festival with the Banana Slug String Band from Tuesday through Friday and the Hug the Earth Family Festival on Saturday.

The festival is the culmination of the Hug the Earth school program. The festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday from at the Stillwater Prairie Reserve north of Covington off Ohio 185.

More than 3,000 county students from kindergarten through grade five will perform with the Banana Slug String Band and engage in outdoor educational activities.

The festival is free, although donations are welcomed.

In addition to the Banana Slug String Band, activities will include tree climbing, archery, geocaching, a zip line and an Animal Safari Adventure Trail.
