Innovative Labeling a global leader in digital print packaging

FAIRFIELD TWP. — Innovative Labeling Solutions is an example of a company that saw an opportunity and ran with it. Now it’s paying off.

The digital label printing and packaging company can say two things nobody else in the world can: It is the only company in its industry to make labels, flexible packing, shrink sleeve and folding cartons digitally under one roof, said Jay Dollries, president of Innovative; and it’s now the first company worldwide to install three Hewlett-Packard Indigo WS6000 printers.

At a ribbon-cutting Wednesday at Innovative, 4000 Hamilton-Middletown Road, Dollries said he first thought digital technology had matured to the point it was going to take off in 2005.

“This we really saw as an opportunity to really become a leader in the packaging world,” Dollries said.

The million-dollar machines can print with seven colors, seamless transitioning between jobs and running multiple color designs at the same time.

HP official Vince Pentella said Wednesday that it’s the newest generation of technology. Innovative Labeling was the first company in North America to install the WS6000 in November 2008, said Pentella, director of strategic development for HP Indigo. Two more were installed in November.

Pentella said Innovative can now print up to 250,000 labels per job.

“We see a very vibrant, very dynamic, very strong growing company,” he said.

In each of the past three years, the company has grown its digital business 70 percent, Dollries told those gathered. Officials were on hand from West Chester-Liberty Chamber Alliance, Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber and Liberty and Fairfield townships, among others.

Last year, Innovative added 12 workers for a total 56 employees and increased revenue from $8.2 million at the end of 2009 to $9.8 million at the end of last year, he said.

The new printers are two to three times more productive than the previous versions.

The family-owned business opened in 1996 as a plate-based printing company.
