“The plan is for a fairly traditional bar that regularly features live music, mostly from local bands and musicians, but we’ll also look at bringing some outside acts in,” Hidden Gem co-founder Tony Schmidt told this news outlet.

“Our musical tastes are pretty varied, including rock, blues, funk, electronic, jazz, folk, hip-hop, and more, so we hope to feature an eclectic mix of acts to appeal to lots of different people,” Schmidt said. “We’ll see what works, and that will inform the direction the business takes.”

“As for an opening date, It’s still early to say, but we’re anticipating sometime in the next four to six months,” the business owner said.

The space, which is located behind The Submarine House in Normandy Square, most recently housed Normandy Banquet & Event Center. Previously, it was home to a couple of nightclubs, including Intrigue and The Liquid Room.

A new music venue appears to be in the works in the Normandy Square Shopping Center in Washington Twp.

An application for a full liquor license was filed with the Ohio Division of Liquor Control on Monday, Aug. 5, for 507 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Washington Twp., according to the state agency's web site. That space formerly held another music venue called The Liquid Room, among others. The applicant, Tad Entertainment LLC, said in the application that it will do business as "Hidden Gem Music Club."

The filing of a liquor-license application is often one of the first steps in the early development of a new restaurant, pub or nightclub, and not every application leads to a business opening.
