Construction began earlier this year for the seven-story complex that will feature six different water slides. It is scheduled to debut Memorial Day Weekend when Soak City Waterpark opens for the summer.
EARLIER REPORT
Construction is progressing well in Kings Island on its new Tropical Plunge in the Soak City Waterpark.
The seven-story complex will feature six different water slides. Three of the slides will start with guests climbing inside an Aqua-Launch chamber where they will wait anxiously for the floor to drop out from underneath their feet, sending them into a high-speed, almost vertical free fall through a series of flat loops and S-curves in a translucent flume.
Tropical Plunge also will feature a slide that will send riders twisting and spiraling through an enclosed chute featuring four intense 360-degree loops across 449 feet of slide before they’re released out into a pool of water and dueling 337-foot long tube slides that zip riders through an enchanting series of drops and turns.
Once the attraction has been constructed, Soak City Waterpark will have 36 slides. two wave pools, two coves, a lagoon and an action river plus children’s play areas among its more than 50 water activities.
Kings Island will open April 16 for its 45th season, then it will reopen for weekend operation April 22. Daily operation begins May 13. Tropical Plunge will be ready for its first sliders May 28 when Soak City Waterpark opens for the summer.
