Library features 4 new services to make process faster and better

Washington-Centerville Library offers a whole host of services intended to save the library user time and make using the library more convenient.

Express Checkout

Express Checkout is the library version of self-checkout. And now our Express Checkout stations feature newer technology and more features. Plus, the stations are super easy to use – and if you can’t figure it out, our staff is happy to assist.

Express Checkout steps you through the checkout process with easy to understand on-screen visual and audio prompts.

The units also desensitize and a checkout material all in one step, so checking out is even quicker than before. At the end of your transaction, you even get a handy receipt telling you when your items are due back – or if you are environmentally concerned, you can chose a “no receipt” option.

Express Collection

Want a great read but don’t have an hour to spend browsing the library shelves for the perfect pick?

The Express Collection, located near the front entrances of both Centerville Library and Woodbourne Library, offers the latest best-selling fiction and non-fiction for immediate checkout.

The materials check out for one week only (no renewal) so the turnover is brisk – upping the chance that you’ll find what you’re looking for.

As a companion, the library also offers Express DVDs, which are the most recent new releases for a quick overnight loan.

And during the holidays, we have an Express Holiday Music collection of popular holiday CDs.

Express Notice

Thanks to the beauty of e-mail, library users can opt to receive the following library notices electronically:

Notification that reserved materials are ready for pickup

Due date reminders on materials that check out for more than one week

Notification of overdue materials and/or fines

Express Notice offers library users more timely notification of the items above and saves the Library money on postage costs. Plus it’s environmentally friendly in that it saves lots of paper. If you are interested in taking advantage of Express Notice, simply give the Library your e-mail address on your next visit.

Express Info

If you’ve ever pulled an all-nighter finishing a research project or had a question nagging you at 3 a.m., you’ll appreciate Express Info. This service offers 24/7 access to a reference librarian. Through a state-wide consortium effort called Know It Now; library card holders across Ohio can log onto the web www.wclibrary.info/express/info.asp and engage in live-chat with a librarian anytime day or night. In short, you can get research assistance long after the library has closed.

So, next time you are crunched for time, don’t skip your library visit – just utilize one or more of the above Express Services to get in and out in record time.
