Liquidation sale at Dayton Airport Hotel starts Thursday

DAYTON — Furniture and fixtures, televisions, restaurant and commercial laundry equipment and more from the closed Dayton Airport Hotel will go on sale to the public Thursday, March 25, as a three-week liquidation begins.

National Content Liquidators Inc., of Springboro, selected by the city last week from among eight bidders for the liquidation contract, will handle the sale. Under the contract, Dayton — which owns the hotel — will be paid $115,000 for the contents.

They include king- and queen-sized beds, loveseats, chairs, sofas, artwork, ice machines, chandeliers and banquet furnishings.

Hours for the liquidation sale at the hotel, located on the grounds of Dayton International Airport, will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The daily sales are to continue for 21 days.

The city has decided to demolish most of the 40-year-old hotel, except for the part that houses a training facility for Dayton-based PSA Airlines. Much of the site is to be used for a parking lot.

A new Holiday Inn & Suites is to be built at the airport. The new hotel is to open late in 2011.
