Local man pleads not guilty in Kentucky double murder

One of three Miami Valley men indicted in connection with a 2005 Kentucky double murder has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Ronald Fairchild, 43, of Xenia, pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of murder, robbery and burglary in Mason Circuit Court, according to The Ledger Independent newspaper of Maysville, Ky.

Fairchild, 36-year-old Rodney Dodson of West Carrollton and 33-year-old Jason Jackson of Xenia all have been indicted on charges of murder, robbery and burglary in the 2005 slayings of Donald Walker and Marlane Mauk in Fleming County, Kentucky, about 80 miles southeast of Cincinnati.

Kentucky State Police said theft and drugs were the motives for the slaying of Walker, while Mauk was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Dodson remains in the Montgomery County jail, and Jackson is in the Greene County jail while Kentucky authorities pursue extradition orders. All three men were arrested in the Dayton area in May.
