The restaurant is owned by local residents Larry Thompson, managing partner; Holley Thompson, operations partner; Lisa Long, general manager; and Samantha Schuh, assistant manager. The ownership team has been overseeing the restaurant since 2013, and have worked to update the interior and to enhance the menu offerings with fresh, sustainable fish and seafood and locally grown products when feasible, the owners said in a release.

Sweeney’s was founded in 1994 by Ron and Christy Sweeney, who sold their restaurant in 2012 and went on to launch Sea Jax Tavern in south Kettering two years later. A restaurant has operated out of the space since 1959, when an Italian restaurant named Antonio’s opened there, Sweeney’s owners said.

The special 25th Anniversary Three Course Prix-Fixe Menu offers choices from among some of the restaurant’s most asked-for dishes, its owners said. Diners will have the option to select from two soups (House-Made New England Clam Chowder or House-Made Lobster Bisque); from four salad choices (House-Made Coleslaw, Sweeney’s Poseidon Salad, Sweeney’s Caesar Salad with House-Made Caesar Dressing or Sweeney’s House Salad); and from four entrees: Fried Canadian Yellow Perch; Seafood Newburg Pasta; Horseradish-Parmesan Crusted Fresh Faroe Islands Salmon or Filet Oscar “Sweeney’s Style,” featuring a beef filet atop Sweeney’s Signature Crab Cake. Each three-course special meal will be priced at $25. The regular menu will be available.
