In the exercise room, the treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes and weight machines are in constant use. Nearby, two pool tables are the focus of a lot of friendly competition.
Throughout the center, men and women can be found participating in programs like yoga, line dancing, exercise classes, genealogy, stamp club, art classes, table tennis, bridge, corn hole and dominos. There is always a jigsaw puzzle under construction next to the well-stocked library.
Along with the regular agenda, the center offers special programs such as free tax preparation on Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays.
This program, offered by volunteers from the VITA program, is by appointment only. Appointments are available at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. There are also 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday times available. Call 426-6166 for reservations.
Another special program is the Driver Safety Course, formerly known as 55 Alive.
The center will be offering this course on from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 24.
The course is sponsored by AARP. The fee for AARP members is $12 and it’s $14 for nonmembers. Reservations can be made at the center’s front desk.
The Greene County Council on Aging hosts a caregivers’ group at 9:30 a.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.
The council’s staff are at the center from 9 a.m. to noon on the first and third Thursdays of the month to provide assistance with senior concerns like Medicare D forms.
The annual membership fee for residents of Beavercreek and Beavercreek Twp., who are age 55 and up, is $30.
Membership is $45 for nonresidents. Nonmembers can purchase a daily admissions pass for $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents.
