Logan, Union County troopers get new commander

State troopers in Logan and Union counties are reporting to a new leader today.

Sgt. Molly Clemens was promoted to lieutenant at a ceremony Tuesday and took over as commander of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol this morning. Lt. Clemens started as a dispatcher, graduating from the patrol’s academy in 1998.

According to Lt. Clemens, she’s been working at the Marysville Post since 2012, where she was transferred from the Capitol Operations office at the Ohio Statehouse. She replaces Lt. Ronald Raines, who led the Marysville Post for just under two years before taking a job at the patrol’s general headquarters, according to a release.

Lt. Clemens said the turnaround has been dizzying, saying “My head is still spinning a little bit.”

She was selected for the promotion from a pool of six applicants, saying of her selection, “It’s definitely an honor.” Officials with the patrol said Lt. Clemens is one of two female Post commanders in the state, with the other serving in Wayne County.
