Michael Lombardelli said he left the keys under a cushion on his porch for his mechanic to come pick up his vehicle to have some work done to it. It’s the same place his packages were sitting after the delivery around 9:20 a.m., Lombardelli said.
“You're on your own property and I've been here 19 years and never really had any issues like this at all. I started beating myself up a little bit for even putting the key out there, blaming myself,” Lombardelli told News Center 7’s Josh Jackson.
Lombardelli said he got a text from his wife saying the vehicle’s alarm was going off two minutes after the place he ordered the packages from confirmed they were delivered, but the alarm stopped quickly.
The vehicle itself was not stolen, but Lombardelli said he needed to contact police.
“It still should be there. It is what it is at this point,” the Xenia resident said.
No charges have been filed in the case.
Friday evening, an Amazon spokesperson issued the following statement: “This does not reflect the high standards we have for delivery service partners. We are taking this matter seriously and have reached out to the customer to make this right.”
