He was creative director for a Dayton firm when the owner decided to sell off the creative component. Baldwin purchased it, found his office space in Beavercreek and opened his doors in January 2009.
“I was looking at what my options were,” he said, knowing the economy was uncertain. “I felt this was my best opportunity.”
His business, Baldwin Creative & Co. offers assistance with marketing, graphic design, brand development and strategic messaging.
Baldwin may help a small, local business launch a product one day, and the next, he and his employees may produce materials for a Fortune-500 company with offices throughout the United States. Clients have included International Paper, Kodak, Home Depot Political Action Committee, Wright State University and Kettering Medical Center.
Baldwin is hard-pressed to say what facet of the business he enjoys the most. He is comfortable with the technical details of product branding and promotion, but Baldwin also likes interacting with employees, clients and business colleagues.
“Clients come and pay me to solve their problems. When I solve them and see them succeed, that is my drive,” he said.
As an example, The Greentree Group hired Baldwin Creative & Co. to help launch a new service. Baldwin’s work included naming the service, Back to Business I.T., up to writing the advertising heard on local radio stations.
Employee Lindsey Coxworth noted the firm strives to provide ideas the clients need, and may suggest abandoning something that hasn’t worked.
“We will give you what you need, and nothing you don’t,” she said. “We’re going to fix you up with the best mix of promotional tools.”
Baldwin Creative & Co. is located at 2430 Dayton-Xenia Road, Suite F. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday.
