Motorcyclist flown to area hospital after crash in Pleasant Hill

UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m.:

A motorcyclist who was flown to Miami Valley Hospital Monday morning was listed in fair condition later that night, according to Miami County Sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Slusher.

The motorcyclist was ejected after he struck the back of a Chevrolet Corvette whose driver failed to yield around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of South Main and West Monument streets, deputies said.

The names of the two drivers have not been released.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of South Main and West Monument streets around 9:30 a.m. after the crash was reported.

A Chevrolet Corvette was traveling west on West Monument Street and failed to yield at the intersection, deputies said. The motorcycle crashed into the back of the car, throwing the motorcycle operator from the vehicle.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to deputies, and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by a CareFlight medical helicopter with unknown injuries and condition, according to investigators at the scene.

Deputies said the Corvette driver will likely face citations from the crash.

A CareFlight medical helicopter has been requested to a crash involving a motorcycle on South Main Street in Pleasant Hill Monday morning, according to dispatchers.

The crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of South Main and West Monument streets, initial reports indicate.

A medical helicopter has been requested to land at Newton High School to meet medics and fly at least one person to an area hospital.

Dispatchers said the crash does not appear to be connected to Pleasant Hill’s Memorial Day parade, which is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m., according to the village’s website.
