2 seriously injured in head-on collision on state Route 49 in Darke County

UPDATE @ 7:07 p.m.: The driver and passenger of a car that hit a tanker truck head on at state Route 49 and Karr Road are in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital and the crash remains under investigation, according to the Darke County Sheriff's Office.

David Dirksen, 21, of New Weston, was ejected from the car he was driving. His passenger, 20-year-old Kelsey Evers of Fort Recovery, had to be cut out of the wreckage.

Dirksen was headed north on 49, near Karr Road, when the vehicle traveled left of center and struck the tanker truck. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch.

The truck driver, Stephen Pour, 62, of Troy, was treated at the scene and released, according to the sheriff's office.


A CareFlight medical helicopter has been requested to the scene of a crash, reportedly involving a tanker truck, on Ohio 49 in Darke County Friday.

Crews were dispatched to Ohio 49 at Karr Road, near Pitsburg, around 12:35 p.m. on reports of a two-vehicle crash.

The crash is reportedly head-on and involving a car and a semi, according to initial reports.

The medical helicopter has been requested to transport two people to the hospital.
