The Miami County commissioners on Tuesday accepted an offer by a group of county landscape contractors to maintain at no cost the grounds at the county Courthouse in downtown Troy.
Representatives of the group met last week with the commission to outline the proposal for Operation Courthouse, a program to maintain and enhance the lawn, trees, shrubs and landscape beds outside the 1880s Courthouse.
The group is made up of the same companies that have landscaped and maintained the Ohio 41 and Interstate 75 interchange at Troy for a number of years.
The companies in Operation Courthouse are Greentech Lawn and Irrigation; Ever-Green Turf & Landscape; Mercer Group Inc.; Anderson’s Tree & Turf Tech; Quality Lawn, Landscape and Fence Inc.; Tree Care Inc.; Shields Lawn Tamers; All-Pro Turf, Landscape and Ponds; and Cooper Landscaping.
The value of the services was estimated at around $12,000 a year. The county was asked to provide the mulch for the area. NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
