Logos to remain on downtown building

The Gentlemen of the Road logos placed on the east side of the Masonic Temple Building in downtown Troy will remain on display another year.

The Troy Planning Commission agreed Wednesday to allow the logos placed for the 2013 tour stop in town by Mumford and Sons on the building at Main and Cherry streets through the end of 2016.

The commission, which was told in October the logos would be removed probably in early 2013, was asked by the city to extend the display period. In a letter to the commission, J.C. Wallace of the Troy Development Council said the TDC has been using photos of the Mumford and Sons event and the downtown in its workforce recruitment efforts as well as promotional efforts associated with the city’s America’s Best Communities competition. Representatives of the Masonic Temple said in a letter that they did not object to city request to leave the logos in place. NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
