June beautification award winners announced

The Troy City Beautification Committee has announced its award recipients for June.

The merit award for enhancement of a property/building architecturally went to: 103 E. Main St., Redmen’s Lodge; 1066 Stonyridge, Amber Kiser; and 1509 W. Main St., Missionary Church East Central Regional Office.

The Green Thumb awards went to: 874 Crossbow, Tim and Brenda Davis; 340 Mumford, Kyle and Lisa Bigelow; 2824 Wooden Lane, Russel and Diane Grimes Bogner; 1129 Jeep St., Bonnie Pence and Chris Edgerly; 1106 Long St., Tina Miller; 1124 Race Drive, Avey residence; 316 W. Local author to speak at book signing

Local author Patricia Zimmerman of Troy will speak at a book signing at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jay & Mary’s Book Center, 1201 Experiment Farm Road, Troy.

Zimmerman’s self-help book, “Self-Empowerment: The Only Way to Heal,” was recently published. The event is free and open to the public. STAFF REPORT

Free coffee, doughnuts for vets on July 1

The Wednesday free coffee and doughnuts event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on July 1 at the Miami Valley Veterans Museum, 107 W. Main St., Troy, on the second-floor dining facilities of the Masonic Lodge building. There is an elevator.
