The governor’s press secretary, Allison Kolodziej, said Strickland is expected to speak about 15 minutes.
“The governor will talk to folks about his record, supporting sportsmen and the Second Amendment,” Kolodziej said.
“The governor grew up in rural area (Lucasville, Ohio),” she continued. “For many folks in southeastern Ohio, the Second Amendment (the right to keep and bear arms) is a very valuable right and something the governor has always supported.”
Kolodziej said more than 100 people are expected to attend.
Strickland is seeking re-election on Nov. 2. The governor’s Republican opponent, former congressman John Kasich, has been leading in almost every state poll.
“Over the past four years the governor has worked to make Ohio more business friendly and make important investments in education,” Kolodziej said. “On the other hand, Congressman Kasich spent seven years on Wall Street, where the economic collapse started.”
