SICSA Pet Adoption Center, 2600 Wilmington Pike, is hosting a Family Film Night on at 8 p.m. Aug. 26. The film “Homeward Bound” will be shown outdoors at SICSA.
Local vendors will be on site from 8 to 9:15 p.m. with pet-related items for sale, as well as snacks and treats. The movie will begin at 9:15 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for lawn seating. Donations will be accepted at the door.

Annual city block party set for Aug. 27
The city Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the YMCA, Trotwood Parks and Recreation Board and Foundation will present the fourth annual Trotwood Block Party from 2 to 8 p.m., Aug. 27.
The event will take place at the corner of S. Broadway and Trotwood Boulevard (old High School location).
The theme is “Trotwood Family Reunion”. The event will include food and non-food vendors, youth football games, including Trotwood wee Rams, the youth baseball association, a carnival cafe, children’s activities and live music from the stage located at the center of the event.

KHN seeks volunteers to help with free health clinic
Kettering Health Network (KHN) is looking for volunteers to help care for patients at its free community health clinic on from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 4 and 5, at the Dayton Convention Center, 22 E. 5th St. in downtown Dayton.
The clinic is in partnership with Adventist Medical Evangelism Network (AMEN), a medical mission organization that hosts free clinics through the United States.
Medical volunteers are needed to provide services to patients that include general exams, women’s health services, eye exams, and dental care. Optometrists and dentists are especially needed. Medical volunteers must have a current, valid professional license.
Non-medical volunteers are needed to help with registration, hospitality, child care (subject to a background check), and booth set-up and tear-down.

Applications available for African-American Community Fund grants
The African-American Community Fund (AACF) of the Dayton Foundation is accepting grant requests for its 2016 grant application cycle.
All potential applicants must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) before consideration of a full grant application. The LOI deadline for this grant cycle is Sept. 5. LOIs are available at www.aacfdayton.org/grants.

LULAC Council 39000 will award scholarships to 18 Miami Valley Latino scholars representing high school graduates to returning college/university students at their annual “Si Se Puede” Scholarship and Awards Luncheon held August 13th.
