Equipment failure at a substation Friday night caused more than 3,600 Dayton Power & Light customers in the Miamisburg and West Carrollton areas to lose power.

The large outage was reported around 9:15 p.m., and power was restored to most by 11 p.m. and the rest were expected to have power back around midnight, Kelly Millhouse, DP&L director of operations said.

Hundreds of other power outages were weather-related, she said, primarily due to tree branches and trees falling on power lines.

Estimated restoration times range between midnight and 6 a.m. for various communities, depending on how extensive work is to remove the trees from the lines and restore service.

“We’ll be working around the clock until we can get all of our customers restored,” Millhouse said.
