Power restored after car crash leaves 1.5K in Enon, Mad River Twp. in the dark

Power has been restored to Ohio Edison customers after a car crash knocked out power to over 1,500 people, according to the Ohio Edison outage map.

UPDATE @ 1:36 a.m.:

The intersection of Fowler Road and Broadway Road in Mad River Township is closed after a car crashed into a pole and caused an outage of more than 1,500 Ohio Edison customers, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper on the scene.

The trooper said that the driver was not impaired, but went off the road and hit the utility pole.

The driver was not injured in the crash.

An Ohio Edison crew on the scene said that they didn’t know how long it would take to repair the damage.

Our crew reported that one utility pole is on the ground, while another is leaning over, and power lines are down.

INITIAL REPORT:

More than 1,500 people are without power in Enon and Mad River Township, according to the Edison Ohio outage map.

Specifically, 807 customers in Enon and 716 in Mad River Twp. were affected.

The outage map says that Edison crews are investigating the cause of the outage, but initial reports said that there was a crash in the area.
