Motorcycle, tractor crash injures 2 in Darke County

A married couple was ejected this evening after they crashed into a tractor hauling a manure spreader on state Route 705.

Robin Webster of New Bremen was operating a 2014 Harley Davidson Road King with his wife, Amy, as passenger east on state Route 705 just before 5:30 p.m. when they tried to pass a New Holland tractor driven by Jerome Otte, 57, of Maria Stein. The tractor had slowed and was attempting to turn left onto Whiterd Road when the motorcycle struck the tractor’s front left tire, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

The tractor operator was not injured.

Robin Webster, 54, was not wearing a helmet; he was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he was listed in serious condition tonight. His 46-year-old wife, who was wearing her helmet, was taken to Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater but her condition was not able to be released.

The crash remains under investigation.

FIRST REPORT

Two people are hurt in a crash between a motorcycle and a tractor in Darke County.

The crash was reported just before 5:30 p.m. on state Route 705 at Whiterd Road, east of U.S. 127, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

CareFlight has been called to the scene for at least one of the two people injured.
