New Berry Festival to start in Warren County this summer

HAMILTON TWP. — A new festival will take place here that will serve some of the best berries in Warren County.

Hamilton Twp. is dropping its Independence Day Festival and starting the Berry Festival this summer.

Organizers said the June 17-18 festival will keep the best amenities of the former event and they will add a “wealth” of township florists, landscaping businesses and farm markets to make a community festival that is unique to the township.

The berry branded celebration will include locally grown offerings from Blooms & Berries Farm Market, Greenfield Plant Farm, Schucter’s market, Irons Fruit Farm and more, said Michelle Tegtmeier, berry festival entertainment chairperson.

“We wanted to find our niche. It seems there our quite of few July 4th festivals in the area and we weren’t getting a lot of attention,” she said.

In anticipation of this year’s festival, Tegtmeier said some of the township’s established vendors are creating berry-flavored specialties.

“Also new for this year will be a 5K race that will begin at twilight at Testerman Park and end there at the festival that evening. We already have close to 200 participants,” she said.

The festival also will include the annual parade, a car cruise, rides, games and live entertainment.

The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. June 17 at Testerman Park and run until 11 p.m. The event will feature live music with The Richard Lynch Band. On June 18, there will be a parade at 4 p.m. and a fireworks display at 11 p.m.

The township is partnering with local businesses to kick off funding. Wendy’s, 54 E. Grandin Road, will donate 15 percent from total purchases from 5 to 8 p.m. March 16. Call (513) 683-8520 for information.
