NWS: EF-0 tornado hits southern Ohio village

An EF-0 tornado hit Sardinia on Wednesday morning, National Weather Service forecasters in Wilmington said.

Our news partner, WCPO.com, reports there were no injuries but a lot of damage — especially on Sardinia-Mowrystown Road.

A gas pump was knocked over, a power line was brought down and the awning at the Sardinia Fuel Mart was taken off. The twister scattered other debris several blocks, WCPO.com reports.

Schools were placed on lockdown as well.

According to weather service meteorologists, the tornado was detected about 11:16 a.m. Meteorologists, after conducting a survey, rated the tornado EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with an estimated maximum wind speed of 75 mph. It had a maximum path width of 100 yards and path length of a mile.
