Administrators from five states applied for the job, replacing David Baker who resigned, effective July 1, after 10 years, to take a part-time job with the Warren County Educational Service Center. Voters and board members have expressed confidence in Lolli, formerly an assistant principal at Springboro High School. Cheryl Ryan, a consultant with the Ohio School Boards Association handling the district’s search, has indicated some boards prefer administrators familiar with Ohio issues, such as school funding.
First round interviews are slated for Sept. 23, Sept. 25 and Sept. 29. The board hopes to pick the next superintendent by the end of October.
The board had weighed waiting until after Nov. 2 when districts voters will consider a 6.83 mill emergency levy expected to raise $5.9 million a year for five years. Voters have rejected four consecutive levies for new operating money, most recently by 111 votes in May 2009.
