Olympian to give demonstration

Women’s judo Olympic champion Kayla Harrison will do a judo demonstration and a question and answer session at 3 p.m. Nov. 25 as part of the annual “Battle in the Middle” youth and junior high wrestling tournament. The public is invited to attend the demonstration as well.

Harrison, a Middletown native, won the women’s gold medal in the 84 kilogram weight class at the London Olympic Games this past August, becoming the first American to win a gold medal in judo.

She lives in Wakefield, Mass. and trains at former Olympian Jimmy Pedro’s USA Team FORCE training facility.
