NEW: City Prosecutor asks for dismissal of charges in Enon child care center case

UPDATE @ 9:45 p.m. (July 30): The City Prosecutor's Office has asked that criminal charges be dismissed against the owner of Enon child care center High Hopes Learning, according to municipal court record.

The court record indicates the case against Arthur Hanson, 64, of Huber Heights, was closed today.

Hanson had been accused of assault and endangering children stemming from an alleged offense at the facility on Jan. 25.

A jury trial scheduled for Aug. 15 had been rescheduled for Sept. 25, case filings indicate.

INITIAL REPORT (July 24)

A man state officials identified as an owner of the High Hopes Learning Center is charged with assault and child endangering in connection to a January incident, records show.

Arthur Hanson, 64, is awaiting a pre-trial hearing in the case, records show.

According to court records, Hanson took three kids to the basement area and into an adjacent room where they were lined up waiting for the school bus. While in the room, Hanson is accused of using his hand to grab and squeeze the face, leaving visible red marks and imprints on the child's forehead and temple area.

The incident was said to have happened Jan. 25 at the child care center, 20 Davis Ave.

News Center 7 spoke to people at the learning center, who said they were not able to comment about the case.

An inspection report by the state following the alleged incident "it was determined that an owner had abused, endangered, or neglected a child.”

The state said the individual needs to be released from employment immediately.

Court records show Hanson is scheduled for an appearance in court Aug. 14.
