UPDATE @ 3:53 p.m. (March 17)

Capt. Lee Adams, of Piqua Fire, said there’s no cause yet in this fire at Paul Sherry. He said insurance investigators and fire marshal investigators have been out there all day.

He said the origin of the fire was inside a detailing shop on the property, but there could be several possible causes. Nothing has been ruled out but the blaze is not suspicious, Adams said.

Damages were estimated at $750,000.

UPDATE @ 9:49 a.m. (March 17)

Four cars and one motorcycle were destroyed in a fire at the Paul Sherry auto dealership on County Road 25-A in Piqua Wednesday night.

Two cars were destroyed by the fire, and two cars and the motorcycle were destroyed due to the soot. None of the cars were customer cars; they all were owned by the dealership.

The fire was reported in the service department about 9:15 p.m.

The Piqua Fire Department and the state fire marshal’s office are investigating to determine a cause and a damage estimate.

Paul Sherry is open for business today despite the damage from the fire.

No injuries were reported.

INITIAL REPORT (March 16)

A fire at Paul Sherry auto dealership on County Road 25-A in Piqua caused extensive damage to the business Wednesday night. The blaze started in the service department about 9:15 p.m. and was contained a short time later, officials said.

The cost of the damage and the cause of the fire were not immediately known. No other details are available.
